My new laptop takes five seconds to boot up from being shut down. FIVE. SECONDS. Give or take a few. And the afterwards I can just immediately open any applications. The browser? Sure. Games? I'm playing within a minute. In my previous laptop it'll take like, a minute to get to the login screen, and then I have to wait another ten (TEN! MINUTES!) before I can open any application at all. Any. At all. I've pretty much taken it as thats-just-how-it-is but what do you mean no one else deal with this
Also I can just alt-tab in the middle of the game and open a browser with no issue on performance. No! Issues! I can just have a game AND a browser running at the same time! Frickin' magic.
You know what else is magic? It doesn't heat up like crazy! It doesn't go *whirr whirr whirr*. Also, just, typing? Into WordPress's editor? Do you know I always got used to typing on something lighter like Notepad and then pasting it because typing on WordPress *lags*, it's a pain.
Honestly I'm just amazed at all the normal functions that it seems other people are already taking for granted. It's like, I've always been annoyed at bloated applications (hello, literally anything Electron-based) because it'll heat up my computer like crazy, on top of slowing things down and just, generally, pain. But, like, if most people actually experience the world like this, I can understand when they say "it isn't too bad that Electron-based app are initially heavy".
Letting your application gets too bloated is still bad, by the way. Not everyone can afford a new computer.
Anyway, this was supposed to be a quick review! My new laptop's an MSI Bravo 15, bought it for about 1000 USD. It's a gaming laptop, so by that standard it's still pretty mid-tier, maybe even considered budget tier (prices for higher-tier gaming laptop make my eyes water). Reviews say it gets hot, but, it really doesn't get that bad. Even when it does, the keyboard is still comfortable. The fan only gets noisy when I play games; it's very silent otherwise.
The build feels very solid. It feels like I can carry it around and not worry about destroying it entirely after every bump, something which I cannot say for my previous two laptops even when they were new. Not that I'm gonna risk doing anything to it, mind. Because of its weight, it's primarily the kind of laptop you just put on a desk. I sometimes put it on my lap for quick short session and it's mostly comfortable. As I said, it doesn't get too hot.
I haven't played any games on it aside from Genshin Impact (perfect 60fps on highest setting! game pretty! game smooth!) and, lol, Assassin's Creed IV (crash on startup, which I'm gonna blame on the game). I don't play games on PC anymore, but it's good to know that I can do it without turning the keyboard into a toaster now.
Anyway. New laptop good. I'm very happy I got it.
