re: AI technology, and whether we can create one that is as smart and sentient as human, and whether those AI can then be treated as equal to humans, my answer is this:
You cannot value AI more than humans; any discussion about giving rights to AI while there are still a single human suffering in the world is obscene.
"But what if we created an AI that's just like a human being" bullshit, why would we do that. Human beings have rights because we can suffer. We have rights because we are imperfect, because we can't live on our own, because we have to live in a society. Why would we create beings who can suffer like we do?
If we do manage to create something who can suffer like a human can, that's a design flaw, reiterate it
